A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode that stores information β URLs, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials and more. When scanned with a smartphone camera, the device instantly acts on the encoded data without the user typing anything. Originally developed for automotive manufacturing in Japan in 1994, QR codes are now used everywhere from restaurant menus and business cards to product packaging and event tickets.

Static QR codes like these do not expire β they encode data directly and work forever as long as the code is scannable. Dynamic QR codes (offered by paid services) redirect through a URL shortener and can expire, but require a subscription.
At minimum 2cm Γ 2cm for reliable scanning. The more data encoded, the denser the code and the larger it needs to be. For business cards 2β3cm works fine. For posters aim for at least 5cm and include a white border around the code.

Slightly β which is why the error correction is set to High when a logo is present. QR codes are designed to be readable even with up to 30% of the code obscured. Keep the logo under 25% of the QR size for reliable scanning.
