Frequently Asked Questions

Is this invoice legally valid in the UK?

The invoice format meets HMRC requirements for VAT invoices โ€” it includes all required fields (business name, address, VAT number, invoice number, date, itemised amounts and VAT). However you should always check with an accountant to ensure your specific invoices comply with your business circumstances.

Can I save my invoice to edit later?

Currently the tool doesn't save between sessions โ€” everything is in your browser's memory while you have the page open. To save your work, print to PDF or take a screenshot before closing the tab. A save feature is planned for a future update.

How do I make it look professional when printing?

When the print dialog opens, make sure "Background graphics" is ticked so your accent colour appears in the PDF. Set margins to "None" or "Minimum" for a cleaner result. The invoice is designed for A4 paper size.

Do I need to register for VAT to use this tool?

No. If you're not VAT registered, simply set the VAT rate to 0%. The tool works equally well for non-VAT invoices. Only VAT-registered businesses in the UK are required to charge and collect VAT, and must include their VAT registration number on invoices.
